The 2014 Intercounty Baseball League season kicks off today at the cradle of craziness, Christie Pits.
The local nine will be looking to improve on last season's decidedly mediocre outcome. The Toronto Maple Leafs scuffled to a .500 record in an expanded 42-game season and were flushed away in the first round of the playoffs.
The Leafs released their season preview publication yesterday, accompanied by an article in today's Sun.
"Stability" is the rallying cry for 2014. Domination and conquest are set aside for the time being. The Leafs have traditionally been a competitive club in the IBL, and the hope is that they can reclaim a place at the top of the league.
Their campaign begins at home against the Burlington Bandits. Some combination of words and photos will follow after the game.
