After some considerable delay, it's official: Quarterfinal Game 4 between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Guelph Royals will pick up at the same place where it left off.
At 7:30 pm tonight at Hastings Stadium in Guelph, the game will resume in the top of the sixth inning.
The current situation has the Leafs leading the game 8-4. A win would send them on to the semifinals.
I don't know the rules of baseball well enough to know whether the following scenario is possible. I'm wondering if the Royals would be permitted to go to the well for a fourth time this series and send Claudio Custodio back to the mound on (looks at clock) 23 hours rest. Custodio started the game as pitcher and designated hitter. He was relieved on the mound but remains in the game as DH. Could he conceivably be rotated into a playing position on the field? I have no idea, but what a story that would make.
Anyway, let's go Leafs! Wrap it up tonight!
