A Weekend of Blowouts
While your humble correspondent entertained some excellent visitors from Chicago over the weekend, the Toronto Maple Leafs played a couple of blowout games. They did unto Hamilton what Brantford did unto them.
Game 30: Toronto Maple Leafs at Brantford Red Sox, July 14, 2017.
Red Sox win 12-4
The weekend kicked off with a trip down to Telephone City on Friday night.
The Leafs outhit the Sox 13 to 11, but the home side got the timely hits. Most notably Chris Dennis, who hit two home runs -- one of them a grand slam -- and racked up six RBIs.
Marek Deska made the start and took the loss. Matt Martinow battled through six innings and hung around long enough for the win. Johnathan Solazzo led the way for Toronto with four hits, but the Leafs let a 3-1 lead slip away in the middle innings and Brantford ran away with this one.
Toronto 4-13-3
Brantford 12-11-1
W - Martinow (3-3, 5.40)
L - Deska (1-3, 3.73)
